The Race
Shop is a full time hi-performance engine machine shop. We do all machining
in-house except crank grinding. We use all high end Sunnen equipment and
Serti cutters. We do head and manifold porting, flow bench testing and
development services. We have a new DTS engine dyno and dyno cell as well
as two additional dynos with one more to be installed.
The Race Shop also maintains a full line of performance racing parts
including VP Racing Fuels, Alcohols, & Brad Penn oils & lubricants. They maintain a 'WD'
(warehouse distributor) status with many of their vendors including, Mark
Williams, Strange Engineering, Brodix, Manley, Precision Turbo,
Innovative Motorsports, Erson Cams, Callies Crankshafts, Diamond Piston,
JE/SRP, Big Stuff 3 engine Management systems, Accel DFI & F.A.S.T EFI, MSD,Aurora Bearing, PST Driveshaft, Dart and World Products, Titan oil
pumps and clutches, Peterson Fluid Systems dry sump products and much more.
We also house the largest supply of Chromoly aircraft tubing in Wisconsin.

The Baddest "W headed 409" on the
planet
That's right, your eyes are not
playing tricks on you. What you see is truly the baddest
409 on the planet. It is an original '62 Chev "W headded"
"She's real fine my 409". This was originally conceived in 2001
and has grown from what you see here with twin carburetors to a
twin throttle bodied, digitally fuel injected, nitrous
monster. Separated by about
130 horsepower, the DFI 409 has made 1644 hp on the dyno with
two kits of nitrous. Naturally aspirated the motor made
835 hp and nearly 760 ft lbs of torque.
The heads are ported and easily flow over 330 cfm the last time they were flowed.
It seemed like everything was custom built for the 409 monster.
From (our own)valve
covers to water pump ends. Stefs built the oil pan (which they
now sell) and Hogan's did the intake. Twice.(once
for the carbs and again for the throttle body).
Digital fuel injection and throttle bodies were from Accel DFI.
Crane roller rockers, Erson cam, our own stud girdles, Isky
lifters and 409 rev kit (try and
find another one of those)
to Ross and Arias pistons, GRP rods and
modified Callies Crank. One of these
days I will post more pictures.
The engine was in a tube chassis'd '62 409, the one pictured on
this site, raced a few times and then retired. Wherever we
raced it, it was like a car show. People couldn't believe we
would race something so valuable, but we did to show off a piece
of history; something they may never see again. One of these
days we will bring it out for a nostalgia event or just because,
who knows!!!
